"Two years ago I was fortunate enough to meet Pope John Paul II during his visit to Bulgaria. Today I hope to to see Pope Benedict XVI and am waiting to hear his words". Petya Garkova, 26 years old, a student from Bulgaria, is counting the minutes and looking forward to hearing the Pope’s message at the WYD. "There are few catholics in my country. The days here in Cologne encourage us. There is great enthusiasm. My hope is to nurture my faith, and then convey it to my friends at home". Yulian Nenkov, a worker who is 22 years old, explained: "Young people in our country sometimes have difficulty in expressing their faith in Jesus. Instead here, there is great sharing, friendship, sharing values, ideas, and doubts with many contemporaries. I think that this together with the words of the Pope will give strength to bear witness in every day life in Bulgaria".
