XX WYD: CATECHESIS. MGR. REINELT (GERMANY), THE YOUNG, THE FOUNDERS OF A NEW CULTURE OF FRATERNITY IN EUROPE

” “"Right now, John Paul II and frère Roger are holding hands and praying together for the young people gathered in Cologne". This is how mgr. Joachim Reinelt, bishop of the diocese of Dresden-Meißen, opened his catechesis this morning, in the church of Saint Paul in Cologne (XX WYD). To the young attendees, mgr. Reinelt offered the testimony of bishop Antuan, who, while prisoner in China during the Communist rule, found "relief and solace" in the Eucharist. The bishop of Dresden-Meißen recalled how in the Holy Communion we partake of the Trinity: "Where there is God, there are no divisions. For Christ, we really are all brothers and sisters". As he recalled the words of Benedict XVI, mgr. Reinelt invited the young to be the founders "of a new culture of friendship and fraternity in Europe".
