Xx WYD: THE WIND OF GERMANY TOYS WITH THE POPE

Joy and emotion on Benedict XVI’s face at his comeback as a Pope to Germany. From the plane ladder, the Pope greeted with a wave of his hand the people present and had to "fight" with his cape, which had been swept away by a gust of wind. After the military ceremony, the Pope "quarrelled" again with the wind, which swept the cape over his face as many as three times. Enthusiasm from the young, who greeted him by hailing his name. Some by beating time with their hands, someone else with the "wave". Then, he exchanged a few words with the two statesmen and their wives, in particular with the Chancellor’s wife, Doris, also Bavarian. And finally an unexpected praise to president Köhler’s speech: "I didn’t think – said the Pope – an expert in politics and economics could articulate such a philosophical and theological speech". Before going to Cologne, Benedict XVI greeted once again some young disabled people, while "Adoremus", the WYD hymn, was being played.
