XX WYD: FROM CAIRO TO COLOGNE NOT TO FORGET SHARM EL SHEIK

” “"Being here is a sign of faith". This is the belief of two twenty-year-old Egyptian girls who arrived in Cologne two days ago to join the XX World Youth Day. "We are very sad for the terrorist bombing which hit Sharm el Sheik last July – say the two girls from Cairo -. It was a terrible act against our country which has brought huge damage: our economy is mostly based on tourism". Responsibility for the Egypt’s attack has been claimed by an Islamist extremist group. But Muslims are not all like this: "Luckily, extremists are just a small number – noted the Egyptian girls -. With the others, we can talk of faith. We know lots of Islamists and they are all good people". The WYD too is an opportunity for exchanging opinions: "It is a good time for those who, like us, live in a country where there are few Catholics, for sharing ideas and spending time with those who profess the same religion as ours".
