XX WYD: MONSIGNOR KOCH SAID TO THE VOLUNTARY WORKERS: "YOU ARE THE CAMELS OF OUR FAITH"

” “"You are the camels of our faith". During the opening Mass today of the 20th World Youth Day, celebrated at the Bay Arena in Leverkusen, Monsignor Heiner Koch, Secretary General of the WYD, said these words of greeting to the thousands of voluntary workers, who from tomorrow will offer their services divided between Cologne, Bonn and Dusseldork.  Monsignor Koch explained to about  15 thousand young people present that "The Magi, the Three Wise Kings, who were the first pilgrims, could not have concluded their journey without their camels. Hence, the pilgrims who are arriving in Cologne for the 20th World Youth Day will necessarily need the help of the volunteers. The pilgrims will be able to say with your work and your help: We have found Christ and we came to adore him". The Secretary General of the WYD then recalled that "without the help of the thousands of volunteers it would not have been possible to prepare this venue. The Cologne WYD become a reality only thanks to you. You have made it possible. There are still many unpredictible challenges. Thanks to all of you for venturing into these new challenges with us".
