These are a few of the initiatives that have been taken by boys and girls from Pozzuoli during the twinship with the German diocese of Mainz, from August 11th to 15th, a preview of the spirit of the XX World Youth Day. The young Neapolitans have also delivered the free meals at the city soup kitchen, spent their time by playing with children and by repairing the mental patients’ centre. Generally speaking, the days of the twinships are quiet days, spent in socialisation, exchanges of opinions and experiences. Days during which boys and girls are busy in social activities, celebrations as well as cultural excursions, pilgrimages and occasions for reflection and feasting. Some of the boys and girls sleep in gyms or schools, but the majority stay with local families, for a more in-depth experience, after having been welcomed by the mayor of the host city. (continues)
