XX WYD: 150 YOUNG PEOPLE FROM ALTO ADIGE TO COLOGNE. THE WISH OF THE BISHOP OF BOLZANO-BRESSANONE

” “"May the journey of the youth to Cologne become a deep feeling of the encounter with Christ". This is the wish that Mgr Wilhelm Egger, bishop of Bolzano-Bressanone, addressed to the youth of his diocese, who left over the last few days for Cologne, in order to take part in the XX World Youth Day. For the Bishop, who will be in Cologne from August 16th to August 21st, the WYD is a good opportunity to meet young people: "I feel close to the young, and this is why I find it important to be able to spend some time with them". In these days, which focus on twinships with German dioceses, 150 young people from Alto Adige, led by Eugen Runggaldier, in charge of the young pastoral, have come to Cologne. As to the meaning of the WYD, Runggaldier highlighted that "the focus of this Day is not the cult of the Pope, but the experience of a world-wide and community-wide Church. The Pope will not take part in this event in a personal capacity, but as a representative of the Gospel".
