Xx WYD: YOUNG PEOPLE ALONG THE FOOTSTEPS OF THE SAINTS WHO MADE EUROPE

Seek the truth, carry your own cross, be witnesses of faith. These are some of the messages which the patrons of the 20th World Youth Day bore witness to. In addition to the Magi, the three Wise Kings, there are also Saint Ursula, Saint Boniface, Saint Albert the Great, Blessed Adolph Kolping, Saint Edith Stein. The young  participants in the 20th Youth Day will follow in the footsteps of the life of these saints who were all linked to the city of Cologne. Their message will be studied further in depth during the days of the venue. "Be faithful witnesses to evangelical life": this is what Saint Ursula, patron of the church of Cologne, bore witness to during her life. Saint Boniface, who devoted himself to the apostolate in Germany and Eastern Europe, professed the importance of the mission to increase the glory of God and for the salvation of souls. Saint Albert the Great, to whom is attributed the"great compromise" which led to the constitution of Cologne. Then, Blessed Adolph Kolping, considered one of the forerunners of the social Doctrine of the Church, who committed himself to encourage youngsters to find new prospects for their life. And lastly Edith Stein, about whom John Paul II wrote: "The message of the cross has entered the heart of many men and women changing their existence. An eloquent example of this extraordinary inner renewal is the spiritual journey of  Edith Stein. A young woman seeking the truth, thanks to the silent work of divine grace, became a Saint and a martyr: this is Teresa Benedicta of the Cross".
