DEUS CARITAS EST: RUSSIAN TRANSLATION WAS PRESENTED TODAY IN ROME

Russian translation of the Encyclica “Deus Caritas Est” has been presented today to the Secretary of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, Bishop Angelo Amato sdb, during the Professional Seminar for Church Communications Offices which is taking place in Rome, in pontifical Santa Croce University.
The Encyclica have been translated into Russian and published in a supplement “Roma Locuta” to Russian Catholic weekly “Svet Evangelia” (“Light of the Gospel”) on the April 16 – the Easter and the birthday of the Pope Benedict XVI.
After the presentation the Encyclica to the Secretary of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, editor-in-chief of “Svet Evangelia” (SE) Victor Khroul said that first edition of “Deus Caritas Est” in Russian (3000 copies) have been already distributed among the readers, so second edition (4500 copies) have been printed and inserted in SE weekly, dated the April 30.
Russian Catholic journalist added that the supplement “Roma Locuta” – the initiative of the Secretary of State Cardinal Angelo Sodano – has been launched in 2001 for the publication of Pontifical and Roman Curia documents.
