ITALY: TERRORIST ATTACK IN NASSIRIYA; CEI, "THE ITALIAN CHURCH SHARES THE GRIEF OF THE FAMILIES OF THE KILLED SERVICEMEN"

” “"The Italian Church shares the grief of the families of the three Italian servicemen and the Rumanian serviceman who were killed in the savage terrorist attack of this morning in Nassiriya, Iraq". This is stated in a release sent out in the afternoon by the presidency of the Italian Bishops Conference: "The tragic death" of the three Italian servicemen and the Rumanian serviceman, "within the scope of the mission in which Italy is taking part in Iraq to ensure a future of freedom and security to that tortured country, urges everyone to a new, firmer commitment to eradicate the plague of terrorism, which foolishly sows destruction and death. At such an awkward time, the church community – reads on the release – expresses its solidarity and sympathy to the servicemen and civilians of our country who are engaged in peace actions and raises a fervent prayer to the Lord, that He may welcome in eternal life those who have sacrificed their existence, that He may comfort those who today mourn the death of their loved ones, that He may light the rulers in finding and pursuing the most effective ways to a future of goodwill and justice".” “
