BENEDICT XVI: TO THE YOUNG, "YOUR HAPPINESS DEPENDS ON THE ENCOUNTER AND FRIENDSHIP WITH JESUS"

"Your happiness depends on the encounter and friendship with Jesus", as well as on the ability of becoming the "new generation of apostles rooted in the Word of Christ, able to respond to the challenges of our time and willing to spread the Gospel everywhere". This was said by Benedict XVI to the young who were taking part in the international meeting, "Univ2006", who were received in audience today. As he invited the people present to "deeply experience the mystery of Easter", the Pope recalled that it is Jesus who "guides your steps, your university studies and your friendships, in the comings and goings of daily life". The "personal encounter" with Jesus who "calls you His friends", according to the Holy Father, can be, therefore, "the beginning of an extraordinary adventure: that of becoming apostles amidst your peers, to lead them through your own experience of friendship with the God made flesh".
