BENEDICT XVI: "THE YEAR THAT IS DRAWING TO A CLOSE REMAINS IN OUR MEMORY"

The account of the four apostolic trips of 2006 was the backdrop of today’s meeting between Benedict XVI and the Roman Curia for the traditional exchange of good wishes. Trips reinterpreted in the light of the correlation "of the subject of God with the subject of peace". "Peace on earth cannot be found without a reconciliation with God, without harmony between heaven and earth", said the Pope, who started his account from his trip to Poland and the recollection of John Paul II, "his unshakeable faith, his devotion… In Poland, wherever I went, I found the joy of faith. A visit that for me was a feast of catholicity". Benedict XVI went back to Auschwitz-Birkenau and the rainbow that appeared back then in the sky, that he called "an answer" from God’s presence "to the horror of that place" (to be continued)
