BENEDICT XVI: TO THE NEW AMBASSADORS, "THE BURDEN OF SUFFERING ON THE POORER ONES"

"The year that is nearing its end has witnessed many conflicts in many continents. And you, as diplomats, are no doubt concerned about the situation and the hotbeds of tension that never stop coming up, to the detriment of the local populations, resulting in a high number of innocent victims": it was said this morning by Benedict XVI in his speech on the occasion of the delivery of credentials by the new ambassadors of Syria, Uganda, Kyrgyzstan, Denmark, Lesotho and Mozambique to the Holy See. "On its part, the Holy See – added the Pope – shares such concern that risks endangering the survival of some populations and places on the poorer ones the burden of suffering and the lack of the bare necessities" (to be continued)
