The Common Declaration of Benedict XVI and Christodoulos, that has been signed today, at the end of the meeting in the Vatican, expresses "the wish to give apostolic evidence" to the world, and "the joint responsibility for overcoming the many difficulties and painful experiences of the past". "Our task reads the declaration is to cover the difficult path of dialogue in truth, to reinstate full communion. We hope bilateral theological dialogue will formulate proposals that will be accepted by both sides in a spirit of reconciliation". In reasserting "the need to persevere in the path of a constructive theological dialogue", Christodoulos and Benedict XVI renew "the wish to announce the Gospel to the world, especially to the young", and exhort the religious leaders "to strengthen dialogue between religions and work towards a society of peace".
