"The Church writes Benedict XVI supports the terminally ill and incurable people by asking for fair social policies that may help eradicate the causes of many diseases and draw more and more attention to dying people and to those sick people for whom there are no treatments available. There’s the need comments the Pontiff to promote policies that may lay the grounds for human beings to be able to face incurable diseases with dignity and even death". As to this, the Pope deems it "necessary to place emphasis, once again, on the need for palliative treatment centres that offer the sick integral treatments, in human and spiritual terms. It is the right of every human being, which must be defended". Benedict XVI, in his message, "encourages the efforts of those who work day by day to give adequate care and attention to terminal and incurable patients and their families", and exhorts "the dear suffering brothers and sisters to contemplate the sufferings of Christ" and to trust Him. "The Church is on your side he concludes , helping you at the time of need".
