Benedict XVI, in his first encyclical, "Deus caritas est" highlighted Bertone , calls Mary "the Mother of all believers", whose "motherly goodness" and "virginal beauty are invoked by the men of all times and from all parts of the world", who, "in experiencing the gift of her goodness, experience the inexhaustible love that she pours out of the depth of her heart", as is proven by "the proofs of gratitude rendered to her in all continents and in all cultures". Mary concluded Bertone stands out "amongst all the creatures, as the brightest mirror of God’s beauty" and becomes the "Mother of all mankind". Card. Bertone awarded, on behalf of the Pope, the X prize of the Papal Academies to the African section of the Congrès Mariologiques. The coin of the Pontifcate was awarded to father Fidel Stockl, from the Philippines, for the work: "Mary, Model and Mother of consecrated life".
