According to recent rumours, this law has been further deregulated, so it will push the limits of embryonic testing even further. Women suffering from diseases that cloning might treat will be able to donate eggs, and the money they will be paid will remarkably increase.
“That the “Human Fertilization and Embryology Authority” convinces women to undergo risky, invasive procedures to facilitate en experimental type of research that offers not immediate hope of treatment is outrageous”, said “Life”‘s spokeswoman, Michaela O’Sullivan. “The Authority she added may well refer to legal constraints to reassure the potential donors, but it cannot deny the fact that hyper-stimulation of the ovaries is unnatural, unsafe and unnecessary to develop new treatments.
