“Partaking of today’s cultural debate" both by proposing, in a serious but popular way, “the truths of the Christian faith in a way that is clear as well as faithful to the Magisterium of the Church”, and by defending with no polemic tones “the truth, which is sometimes distorted by groundless accusations against the church community”. No doubt, it gave the Church an urge that renewed it and prepared it to respond in an appropriate manner to the new problems that today’s culture places in front of the men and women of our times”. The Holy Father highlighted “the special efforts” made by La Civiltà Cattolica “in spreading the Social Dostrine of the Church, one of the subjects that it has more widely addressed in the 155 years of its life”.
