The Churches ask all their members to act on several fronts. The first “commitment” is for “the elimination of poverty and inequality, developing solidarity economies”. As for commerce, the Churches ask for “justice in international trade relations” and for a closer collaboration “with the social movements, since the agreements must be fair, lasting and democratic”. As for “Finance”, apart from the unconditional annulment of the debt, the Churches also ask for “a ruling of the worldwide financial markets”, while “investments must be oriented towards business reflecting social justice and ecology”. The banks and the organizations carrying out speculations and encouraging tax evasion must also be rejected. Moreover, the appeal includes a whole series of commitments in favour of the ecological exploitation of the Earth and natural resources. On recalling the subject of the Assembly – “Lord, change the world with your grace”, the appeal concludes by stating that “since we are Churches, while carrying out the changing process we must be responsible for the victims of the economic globalization process”.
