The fourth and last day in Rome today, for the 150 delegates from all European countries in their first meeting in preparation of the Third Ecumenical Assembly of Sibiu (Aee3, 4-8 September 2007). The results of the workgroups held last night on six subjects from the Charta Oecumenica, the document signed in Strasbourg in 2001 by the Churches of Europe, will be illustrated and shared during the session chaired by mgr. Vincenzo Paglia (co-president of Ccee in the Preparatory Committee of Aee3) and by metropolitan bishop Gennadios (co-president of Kek in the Preparatory Committee of Aee3). Unity in faith, European integration, migration, environment, inter-religious dialogue and globalisation: these are the subjects entrusted to eight groups(one each, except the first two which involved four groups, two each). This will be followed by the reading of the “Letter to the Churches" whose draft was presented yesterday afternoon and submitted for the evening discussion to the groups, as amended by the suggestions and comments that came up from the debate. “An appeal to all Christians this is the way Peter Fleetwood (Ccee) described it to Sir -, which will be handed out in the Churches of Europe to invite them to join the ecumenical pilgrimage that started in Rome over the last few days, and to pray for the unity of Christians”. After the addresses of Jean-Arnold de Clermont and mgr. Amédée Grab, Kek e Ccee Presidents, respectively, the final prayer will be said by Father Alois, prior of the community of Taizé.
