ECUMENICAL ASSEMBLY: AFTER THE ROMAN STAGE, THEY ARE ALREADY WORKING TO PROMOTE NATIONAL MEETINGS ALL OVER EUROPE (2)

“The national and regional stages – explained Colin Williams – are key moments during the whole path which will lead us to Sibiu. It is during these events that the people of Europe will feel part of the whole process, and we know that a few churches are already planning meetings on this level”. The “hope” of CCEE and KEK is that during those meetings it will be possible to involve the highest possible number of people, of all kinds, hopefully: from the Christian congregation to the representatives of the monastic communities, and to the members of local groups of Churches. Moreover, in accordance with the provisions included in the worksheet about Sibiu (the “Study Guide”, available in the site www.eea3.org), every meeting will have to find out original means “to ponder with creativity” over the Sibiu subject: “The light of Christ enlightens everybody. Hope for renewal and unity in Europe”. Furthermore, hopefully, those meetings will take place in “prayer and biblical reflection contexts, and “will not become withdrawn. They must be able to identify fields of common commitment, thus encouraging churches to work together in a more effective way”.
