“A different, but possible, world”, because “all together, we can accomplish this plan of harmony and peace" by "siding with the God of love and justice “, is the one described by Benedict XVI in today’s catechesis, which commented the second part of Psalm 143. (The first part had been commented last January 11th, while, on the 18th, the opening day of the Week of Prayer for the Unity of Christians, the Pope had spoken at length of ecumenism). And today, the closing day of the Week, Benedict XVI began with a reflection on the importance of praying, which “substantially contributes to add sincerity and fruitfulness to the common ecumenical commitment of the Churches and Church Communities”, then went back to Psalm 143 which “sings he said the aim of history, in which at last the voice of evil will fall silent” to make way to “a bright horizon” composed “of a succession of scenes of social life”. They include: “the family, which is based on the liveliness of generation” and “the city”, i.e. “the whole civil community which at last enjoys the precious gift of peace and public quiet”. “This portrait of a different, but possible, world is entrusted to the work of the Messiah and also to that of His people. All together, we can accomplish this plan of harmony and peace", ended the Pope, provided we "make a choice and side with the God of love and justice”.
