Over the years, the European Week of Gazzada has attracted the attention of researchers in history of the religions and cultures of the continent, "partly because it offers the opportunity to make a comparison of international studies". As well as historical subjects, the meeting also stands out "for the opportunity of reviewing and relating" issues that are still "extremely topical". The lecturers include: Nenad Moaèanin (University of Zagreb), Eustratios Zeghinis (University of Salonika), Aksinia Durova and Maria Polimirova (Sofia), Rade Petroviæ (Sarajevo), Alexandre Popovic and Xavier Bougarel (Centre d’histoire du domaine turc, Paris), Darko Tanaskoviæ (Ambassador of Serbia and Montenegro to the Holy See), Luan Omari (Academy of Science of Tirana). "Special importance will be attached explains the director, Luciano Vaccaro to the presence of Islam in the social history and material culture" of the Balkans, "by making accurate reference to the influence of Islamic religious life on the Balkan world. In addition, one discussion will be focussed on the relation between Islam and the other religions, especially the Catholic and Orthodox ones, first during the Islamisation process then during the de-Islamisation process".
