RELIGIOUS FREEDOM: AIUTO ALLA CHIESA CHE SOFFRE, A FORUM IN LISBON. THE PROBLEMS OF MINORITIES IN PAKISTAN AND THE MIDDLE EAST HIGH ON THE AGENDA

"Religious freedom in the world: the rights of the communities and human dignity": this will be the topic of the international conference due to be held in Lisbon on June 27th organised by Fondazione Aiuto alla Chiesa che soffre (Acs). A report will be presented on religious freedom in about one hundred countries, including Iran, China, Saudi Arabia, Angola and East Timor. Since 2003, Acs has published a yearly report on religious freedom and has supported, through targeted schemes, the Catholic communities of the countries where they are persecuted or discriminated against. After the presentation of the report, a conference will be held about inter-religious dialogue in the global scenario, with mgr. Willem de Smet from the Syrian-Catholic Patriarchate of Antioch, plus two speeches on the persecution of religious minorities in the Middle East and Pakistan.
