” “A guided tour of Parliament; a multilingual explanation of the history, composition and legislative and budgeting jobs of the Assembly; meetings with the EU MPs from the 25 member states and the “observers” from Romania and Bulgaria. A real success on Sunday 30th April and Monday 1st May for the usual “open day” at the European Parliament in Strasbourg just before the feast of the EU due on 9th May (to commemorate the Schuman Declaration of 9th May 1950, which kick-started the European integration process). At the Strasbourg headquarters, open from 10 am to 6 pm for two days, the citizens could attend cultural events, visit exhibitions, collect information literature and book group and school tours. During this week and the next, more events, concerts and conferences will be held in the other EU venues and in the member states, promoted by the peripheral branches of the EU Commission and Parliament. The “open days” are due again on Saturday 6th May at the EU parliament in Brussels. President Josep Borrell invites the citizens “to come have a look at the places where the EU MPs use to work”. And still on the occasion of the Feast of the EU, the EU bodies will leave the domain name .int for the new EU domain name .eu.
