Leaders and devotees from different religious communities will pay homage to John Paul II at a "world peace rally" due in New Delhi on Sunday April 3rd, the first anniversary of Pope Wojtyla’s death. The event named "Vishwa Shanti Sammelan (World Peace Gathering)" is promoted by the Indian Bishops Conference in conjunction with Caritas and an organisation for human rights, the "Society for civil and human relations". The initiative reads the presentation aims at "gathering men and leaders from different faiths and social classes to pay the highest homage to John Paul II, a man of faith, peace and great humanity". The Indian people reads on the poster "is invited to recall his eternal message of social harmony, full development of the human being and peace in the world". The event will begin on Sunday at 10.30 am in the "Siri Fort" auditorium, New Delhi; a public Mass has been planned for the morning and a forum about social development for the afternoon.
