“Development of a common strategy for the promotion of children’s rights; guaranteed access to children’s information; fight against sex abuse against children in the cyber-age; commitment to eradicate physical punishments” across the continent. Many are the goals set out for the “three-year plan” of the Council of Europe about children’s protection, which will be announced at an international conference due on April 4th and 5th at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco. The two-day debate is named “Building a Europe for and with children” and will be chaired by Princess Caroline. It will be opened by the head of Monaco’s government, Jean-Paul Proust, followed by the deputy secretary general of the Council of Europe, Maud de Boer Buquicchio. “The conference explain the organisers will bring together government representatives, MPs, children’s mediators, teachers, NGO delegates and other experts from the 46 CoE member states. In addition, a contribution will be offered by some EU delegates, two Unicef executives, as well as judges and members of the main international children’s protection committees”. The meeting will be preceded, on April 2nd and 3rd, by a meeting of young people presenting their contributions to the meeting.
