After the speech by Cardinal Angelo Sodano, dean of the Cardinal College, the Holy Father started speaking and thanked the cardinals for taking part in the meeting. The meeting it is written in a statement issued by the Press Office of the Vatican this morning – "offers us the opportunity to spend some time together, praying and reflecting, following the spirit of unity and communion which must characterize any ecclesial meetings, especially the meetings meant for those whom the Lord entrusted with positions of responsibility in His Church". Moreover, the Holy Father expressed the desire that the meeting was dedicated "above all, to some subjects in close relation with the current times".
