"We solemnly commit ourselves to the establishment of relationships based on respect, hope and friendliness. We intend to fight any kind of instigation to hate and hostility. We intend to overcome barriers and obstacles. And we are determined to strengthen reciprocal trust and to serve the noble cause of universal peace, above all, in the land that is sacred for everybody". The final declaration made known in Seville, Spain, yesterday evening concludes with that solemn commitment, at the end of the second World Peace Congress of Imams and Rabbis. 150 imams and rabbis coming from all over the world took part in the meeting promoted by the "Hommes de Parole" foundation. The imams and rabbis came from Israel, the Palestinian territories, Turkey, Iran, and Jordan. As for Italy, there were Yahya Sergio Yahe Pallavicini, vice president of Coreis, and the rabbis of Milan, Giuseppe Laras, and Rome, Ariel Di Porto. Though the Israeli-Palestinian conflict was a hindrance during the debates, the Congress finished with a declaration in which the participants confirmed their will to continue dialogue in the future.
