“Be Lent a conversion chance for all the Christians, and bet it also a higher encouragement towards holiness”. It is the wish of Benedict XVI for the Lent period, which started last Wednesday. “Lent said the Pope yesterday morning, before the Angelus prayer – is a very good time for a thorough life revision, in meditation, prayer and penitence”. Exactly yesterday morning, the Vatican started its spiritual exercises, with the participation of the Holy Father. The meditations take place at the Redemptoris Mater Chapel, inside the Vatican’s Apostolic Palace. This year, the meditations are proposed by Cardinal Marco Cé, distinguished Patriarch of Venice, about the subject: “Walking with Jesus towards Easter, led by Evangelist Mark”. They will finish on Saturday morning, March 11th. Immediately after the Angelus prayer, the Pope recalled that on Saturday, March 11th, at 5 pm, there will be a Marian wake set up by the young university students of Rome at the Paul VI’s Hall. Numerous students of other European countries and from Africa will also take part to it, through radio and television. “Dear young people said the Pope, – I’ll be waiting for many of you!”. Then, while he saluted the pilgrims in Polish, Benedict XVI recalled that he would visit Poland next May, as well as “the places of the great and beloved Pope, John Paul II”.
