DIALOGUE BETWEEN JEWISH AND CHRISTIANS: IN SWITZERLAND, A PUBLICATION FOR A BETTER UNDERSTANDING OF THE "IMAGE OF THE OTHER"

” ” ” “"Only knowledge and recognition of the Other may lead Christians, in an inter-religious setting, to a different perception of Hebraism and the Jewish to a different perception of Christians": this is the background of the idea of the Swiss Commission for Jewish-Catholic Dialogue (Cdjc), to publish in these days a document called "The image of the Other", the fruit of a reflection within the Commission and a workshop in cooperation with Maison Vassalle in Bad Schönbrunn (Zurich). In this booklet, published in German, French and Italian, "the Biblical science, Hebrew, inter-religious, philosophical and sociological, look at the image of the Other". At a time that is challenged once again by "the phenomena of anti-Semitism, racism and hatred of foreigners", the Commission for Dialogue is trying to "walk the way of mutual respect and understanding of Hebraism and Christianity". The Cdjc was established 15 years ago and its members are experts and people dealing with Jewish-Christian dialogue, using topical information, debates and publications. The text of the booklet is available online at wwww.sbk-ces-cvs.ch.” “
