On Sunday, November 12th, the Catholic Churches of England and Wales are recalling the soldiers fallen during the two world wars as well as the British soldiers on a mission abroad through a special celebration. “Remembrance Sunday” is celebrated every year on November 12th. All over the United Kingdom they use to wear a red flower in the buttonhole and make donations to the associations of ex-servicemen. It is a deep tradition in the country, where almost every family had soldiers among its members, who died during wars. The Catholic Church launched a web page which includes a list to which anyone can add the names of one’s relatives, who found death during wars. Every visitor of the page receives a commemoration tablet and a candle which can be lit during the month of November. The page address is www.life4seekers.co.uk/remembrance. “We must recall all the soldiers who gave their lives for justice and peace”, said the Catholic primate of England and Wales, Cardinal Murphy-O’Connor. In a pastoral letter which is going to be read in the Catholic churches on Sunday, Bishop Tom Burns, military ordinary, denounces that the British troops in Iraq and Afghanistan are running risks for lack of adequate equipment.
