CCEE: TOWARDS SIBIU 2007, THE "NINE TOPICS OF THE ECUMENICAL ASSEMBLY"

The coordinators of the nine "Forums" to be held in Sibiu (Romania) during the Third European Ecumenical Assembly (Aee3) (4-9 September 2007) met in Geneva on October 30th. The topics of these nine forums, reads a release from Ccee, the Council of European Bishops Conferences, "are veritable epoch-making challenges for the Churches and for today’s Europe. The participants in the Sibiu Assembly will have an opportunity to reflect on the following 9 topics: unity, spirituality, testimony, Europe, religions, migration, creation, justice and peace. Guided by the topic of the Aee3, “The light of Christ shines on everybody. Hope of renewal and unity in Europe”, the Christians of Europe will question themselves about the original contribution they are called to offer to Europe and to the world". Reflection on these topics is spreading all over Europe: a meeting about the Charta Oecumenica was held in Terni, Italy, in June; in Voivodina, last September, the Christian Churches met to reflect on "Christ, light of the world, foundation and hope for Europe”; in Bulgaria, the meeting held on 29-30 September on "Christianity in Europe" was attended by delegates from the Churches, universities and the government. A meeting on the Aee3 has been planned for the next few days in Dublin. For more information, visit www.eea3.org.
