“Christian proposals for a culture of cohabitation": this is the theme of the 40th Social Week of Spain that, promoted by the Social Pastoral Commission of the Spanish Bishops Conference, will take place from 2nd to 5th November, for the first time in Toledo. During the meeting, said the archbishop of Toledo, mgr. Antonio Cañizares at the press conference for the presentation of the event, "lay people will play an important role, mostly for spreading the social doctrine of the Church”. “Don’t let’s lose heart if the government will not listen to us; what matters is that society will listen", stated Juan José Tomás Raga, president of the Social Weeks, as he explained that "cohabitation means a dialogue of cultures". The works will be opened on November 2nd by the president of the Papal Council for Justice and Peace, card. Renato Raffaele Martino, with an opening speech about "Human rights, the foundation for the building of a universal culture”. This will be followed by the apostolic nuncio to Spain, mgr. Manuel Monteiro de Castro, who will read Benedict XVI’s message. Specific cultures in a global world, truth and tolerance, education and family, will be high on the agenda of the meeting, which will be attended also by philosopher Ignacio Sanchez Camara and sociologist Eduardo Ortiz Llueca.
