BELGIUM: THE INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS FOR THE NEW EVANGELISATION STARTING IN BRUSSELS ON OCTOBER 29TH

After Vienna, Paris and Lisbon, Brussels will play host from October 29th to November 5th to the "International Congress for the new evangelisation", the fourth "city mission” in Europe, promoted by the then archbishop of Paris, card. Jean-Marie Lustiger, along with archbishops Cristoph Schönborn (Vienna) and Godfried Daneels (Brussels), the patriarch Josè Policarpo (Lisbon), the archbishop of Budapest, where it will be held in 2007, Peter Erdö. The subject for 2006 is “Come and See”. “The intention of the Church – explain the promoters – is not to lay their hands on the life of the city. The Church does not hide any political or economic ambition; it wishes to testify the essential values for the humanisation of life by offering its contribution for their implementation": about 600 celebrations, prayers, round tables, concerts, events have been planned.
