COUNCIL OF EUROPE: THE EUROPEAN DAY OF CIVIL JUSTICE CELEBRATED TODAY

” “"Helping the eight hundred million citizens of the 46 member states to be better informed about their rights and the way justice works to make sure they are respected". With these words, Guy De Vel, general manager of juridical affairs of the Council of Europe (CoE) explains the goal of the European Day of Civil Justice that is celebrated today on the initiative of the CoE and the European Commission. "The event – he adds – encourages a new, more humane, outlook on our judiciaries and the way they operate, centred on real worries". Today every member state has organised some initiatives to explain the operation of the courts, with simulations of trials, questionings and meetings with operators from the world of justice, interviews and TV programs. An award has been launched for the occasion, the "Bilancia di Cristallo" award, that will be given to innovative practices in the area of organisation and civil proceedings. ” “
