HOLY SEE: MESSAGE FOR THE END OF RAMADAN, "AUTHENTIC DIALOGUE IS A MUST"” “” “

” ” ” “"While the journey of an authentic dialogue can sometimes be hard, it is more necessary than ever". These are the words of the Papal Council for inter-religious dialogue, in its message of good wishes to the Muslims on the occasion of the end of Ramadan. The message, named: “Christians and Muslims: in confident dialogue to face together the challenges of our world”, signed by the president and secretary of the Papal Council, card. Paul Poupard and archbishop mgr. Pier Luigi Celata, respectively, is available on the Vatican website (www.vatican.va) in Arab language as well. After wishing to Islam believers "peace, tranquillity and joy in your hearts, in your homes and in your countries", the Papal Council recalls that "although seeing what is good and thanking the Lord, it is impossible not to realise the serious problems that oppress our time: injustice, poverty, tensions and conflicts". In particular, "violence and terrorism are a particularly painful plague". "As Christians and Muslims – reads the message – are we not the first ones called to offer our specific contribution to the settlement of this serious predicament and these complex problems?". The key is in the words "love", "mercy" and "solidarity", to which both religions "attach great importance". "The world, and we with it – ends the message –, need Christians and Muslims who respect and esteem each other and offer evidence of loving each other and working together for the glory of God and the good of all men".” ” ” “
