PLENARY MEETING OF CCEE: MGR. GRAB, "CONCERN OF THE EUROPEAN BISHOPS ABOUT CALLS TO PRIESTHOOD"

” “"One of the subjects that the European bishops have most at heart is concern for calls to priesthood": yesterday, during the first day of the Plenary assembly of Ccee in Saint Petersburg, mgr. Amédéè Grab, president of Ccee, made an invitation to pray so that "the families, the parishes, the youth pastoral will discover better and better their own vocation to support vocations" and so that "the whole Christian community will understand how important the priest is for the Gospel to be announced in a deeply and rapidly changing society, for the sacraments to be celebrated for the salvation of men, and for the service of charity to be rendered as an effective sign of Christ’s love for the poor". Along this walk, guidance is given by the "example of the priests, both Catholic and Orthodox, who with their bishops have been for decades the witnesses and the martyrs of Christ’s love in the long time when, in a vast part of our continent, religion was hindered or persecuted".” “
