Angelo Sodano, expressing the wish that "this meaningful celebration will help highlight the positive potentials of tourism, when inspired by human and spiritual values". The subject proposed this year by the WTO, "Tourism makes you rich", offers the opportunity, reads the message "of analysing the remarkable economic and financial interests and the wide social, religious, cultural, political and ecological implications that today’s global dimension of tourism offers to the responsible attention of States and peoples". Tourism is therefore "a certain resource of wealth", which "sets the countries’ economy going" and offers employment to "millions of people". In addition, "the mutual reception between the visitor and the host can accomplish that exchange of the goods of the earth and culture that makes human cohabitation more fraternal and sympathetic".
