CCEE: "WHERE IS EUROPE GOING, CULTURE, PEOPLES, INSTITUTIONS"; IN ROME, THE V SYMOSIUM OF UNIVERSITY LECTURERS

” “”Where is Europe going, Culture, peoples, institutions” is the topic of the V Symposium of university lecturers due to be held in Rome on September 28th (aula Conciliazione, Vicariate of Rome), on the occasion of the European meeting of the national delegates of the university pastoral, promoted by the Council of European Bishops Conferences (Ccee). The opening ceremony (at 5 pm) will be attended by the president of the Republic of Italy, Giorgio Napolitano, followed by the speeches of card. Vicario Camillo Ruini, the Minister of University and Research, Fabio Mussi, the vice-president of the Council of Ministers, Francesco Rutelli, and the vice-president of the European Commission in charge of Justice, Freedom and Security, Franco Frattini. The symposium will be introduced by card. Llovera Antonio Cañizares, archbishop of Toledo, Remi Brague (Sorbonne University – Paris 1), and Christian Starck (Georg-August University at Gottingen). 250 delegates from 35 European countries are expected to come and talk of integration, subsidiarity, solidarity and the Christian contribution to the building of Europe. The symposium marks the beginning of the preparation to the European meeting of university lecturers due to take place in June 2007 about "A new humanism for Europe. The role of universities", which is part of the celebrations for the 50th anniversary of the Treaty of Rome.” “
