Considering the poorest "the first players in the fight against poverty" and involving them in the "development, implementation and assessment of policies that concern them", to build "a world without poverty in which the right to family life, to a dignified job, to social, cultural and political participation are respected". These are the main wishes contained in the "Declaration of solidarity" which has been promoted in the run-up to the Wold Day of the Refusal of Poverty, due on 17th October. The Declaration, signed in Montreal (Canada) in 2006, by supporters of human rights from all the walks of life and from all four continents, is the fruit of a wide consultation by the associations, the trade unions, the States and the UN agencies, in response to a UN resolution of 2005. In a release, the Italian association Amici di ATD Quarto Mondo invites "all citizens who are aware of justice and peace" to support this Declaration, which until 17th October can be signed at http://www.oct17.org/Count-me-in.html. "We sympathise with the people who fight all over the world to resist and eradicate poverty", this is the beginning of the Declaration, which means "to have everyone’s dignity and actual access to human rights respected".
