“The purpose of the Lineamenta for an Ordinary general assembly of the Episcopal Synod is to kick-start discussions within all the Church about the subject selected by the Pope, which for the XII assembly, due from 5th to 26th October 2008, is: God’s Word in the life and mission of the Church”. It was said in the Vatican today by mgr. Fortunato Frezza, Undersecretary of the Episcopal Synod, as he illustrated the contents of the “Lineamenta”. “Transmission and scripture are the places of origin of what we call the Holy Tradition and the Holy Scripture he added , and the Dogmatic Constitution of the Second Vatican Council Dei verbum calls them the only Holy Depository from which the Church draws the revelation of God”. Then, mgr. Frezza highlighted that "the Children of the Church need to constantly fuel their trust in today’s magisterium of the Church, since in it they find the continuity of their identity in faith and in the obedience of the faith”.
