In his Message, Benedict XVI highlights the importance of "communion" for "the flourishing of generous callings at the service of the Church: the heart of the believer, replete with divine love, is urged to totally devote itself to the cause of the Kingdom". Then, the Pope goes on and states that "the care of callings demands therefore an endless ‘training’ in listening to the voice of God… a meek and faithful listening cannot but happen in a climate of intimate communion with God". In addition, it is "essential that, within the Christian people, every ministry and charisma be oriented to full communion, and it is the responsibility of the Bishop and the presbyters to promote it in agreement with every other calling and ecclesial service". This also applies to consecrated life that highlights the Pope "in its proprium is at the service of this communion, as highlighted by the post-synod apostolic Exhortation Consecrated Life by my venerable Predecessor John Paul II".
