EUROPE: THE EU THROWS THE CHALLENGE OF THE "BLACK SEA SYNERGY" UNDER THE NEIGHBOURHOOD POLICY

” “The "Black Sea Synergy" aims at "developing cooperation within the region" as well as "between the Black Sea and the European Union". This is the Commission’s goal in launching a new form of cooperation with the countries that look out onto the Eurasian sea: Russia, Ukraine, Georgia, as well as Romania and Bulgaria, which are already EU members, and Turkey, a member-to-be. The new cooperation policy of the Union for the Black Sea region is part "of the European neighbourhood policy (ENP) and will supplement the substantial commitment of the EU (bilateral policies under the ENP for the countries of that area; a pre-accession process with Turkey; a strategic partnership with Russia) to boost stability and reforms in the countries that look out onto that sea". This policy "supplements the Euro-Mediterranean Partnership and the Nordic Dimension to complete the regional cooperation frameworks in the areas" that surround the 27 EU member states. (continued)” “
