SIR EUROPA: SPAIN, 1 AND A HALF MILLION PEOPLE EXPECTED TO GO TO MADRID FOR THE "FEAST OF THE CHRISTIAN FAMILY"

Two videos of John Paul II speaking to the families, speeches from leaders of ecclesial movements, young and old couples, and a video link live from Madrid to Rome to listen to the Angelus prayer with Benedict XVI. These are some of the events that the organisers of the "Feast of the Christian family" have planned for 30th December, a happening which aims at bringing one and a half million people to Colón square, in Madrid. Many bishops from different Spanish dioceses are already ready to join the event that was launched by the archdiocese of Madrid. The event will be attended, among others, by Andrea Riccardi (Comunità di Sant’Egidio), Julián Carrón (Communion and Liberation), Kiko Argüello (Neo-catechumenal path); Chiara Lubich, who will send a written message, and Manuel Cariacedo (Renewal in Spirit). A procession with the icon of the Virgin of Almudena will close the feast for the families, "as presented by the Catholic tradition", highlighted the cardinal of Madrid, Antonio Maria Rouco Varela.
