” “A new campaign for the pastoral of workers was started today, December 6th, in Carinthia. In a factory at St. Michael ob Bleiburg, called “Filterwerk Mahle”, which employs over 2000 people, every Thursday between 1 pm and 3 pm, seven local priests will be on hand, taking turns in the factory, to speak, offer advice to and assist the workers. The place in which the meetings with the priests will take place has been provided by the company. The campaign is the fruit of a visit of the factory by the bishop of the diocese of Gurk, where the factory is based, mgr. Alois Schwarz, which took place some time ago and had been organised by the pastoral for workers of the Slovenian Committee for the Pastoral, by the Slovenian Organisation for Catholic Action, the Movement of Catholic Workers and the company itself. The president of the Slovenian Committee for the Pastoral, mgr. Ivan Olip, highlighted that the Church must be present just where people live and work. Such interviews with the priests must "offer the chance to develop religious sensitivity even in situations of crisis, so one can find answers in faith", stated Olip.
