” “Mgr. Coccopalmerio was born in S. Giuliano Milanese (Milan) on 6th March 1938. Ordained priest on 28th June 1962, he earned a diploma in theology from the Theological Faculty of Northern Italy, a doctor’s degree in canon law from the Gregorian University, a diploma in moral theology from the Alphonsianum and a doctor’s law degree from the Catholic University of Milan. In the archdiocese of Milan, he worked in the General Bar of the Curia and as a General Lawyer (until 1994). From 1966 to 1999, he was professor of canon law at the Theological Faculty of Northern Italy; since 1981, he has been visiting professor in the Canon Law Faculty of the Gregorian University. Appointed auxiliary bishop of Milan on 8th April 1993, he is currently vicar general for Culture and Catholic cultural centres, president of the Diocesan Commission for Ecumenism and Dialogue, Episcopal delegate for the diocesan presbyteral and pastoral councils and Delegated vicar general for the following positions within the Curia: discipline of the Sacraments, Ecclesiastic cultural heritage, Historical archives and Regional spiritual court. Since 1996, he has been Delegate of the Holy See for Saint Paul’s Society; he is president of the Bishops Commission for legal issues of the Cei (Italian Bishops Conference). ” “
