The plans for the revival of the car industry, that have been presented today by the EU Commission, include several proactive measures which will be now submitted, for implementation as EU regulations, to the EU Parliament and the EU Council. First of all they propose to reduce the administrative load by replacing as many as 38 EU directives with one single body of laws about tyres, fog lights, safety belts … The car manufacturers will be asked to reduce CO2 emissions, either by altering the engine technology or by using bio-fuels. Inaddition, the member states will be asked to redesign their national regulations on traffic management, investments in road infrastructure, car drivers’ behaviours.
