BENEDICT XVI: MESSAGE FOR THE YOUNG, "DON’T BE JUST COMPETITIVE AND PRODUCTIVE, BUT ADVOCATE CHARITY"

” “"Cultivate your talents, not just to conquer a social position, but also to help the others to grow. Develop your skills, not just to become more competitive and productive, but “to advocate charity”. It is the invitation which Pope Benedict XVI addressed to the young in his message during the XXII World Youth Day, to be celebrated on April 1st, 2007, Palm Sunday, on a Diocesan level. In the text, made known today, the Pope pointed out three aspects of daily life, through which the young "are asked to manifest love for God". The first one is "the Church": "feed your enthusiasm and your charity, – wrote Benedict XVI, – the activities of parishes, communities, ecclesial movements and groups of young, to which you belong. Don’t hesitate to give up having some fun with joy; accept the necessary sacrifice with no reluctance; advocate your faithful love for Jesus by announcing his Gospel, especially among the people your age".
