FRANCE: VALENTINE’S DAY, THE DIOCESE OF PARIS ORGANISES A PILGRIMAGE/CRUISE ON THE SEINE FOR ENGAGED COUPLES

” “Pilgrimages/cruises on a bateau-mouche along the Seine and dinners for all engaged couples. These are some of the initiatives developed by the archdiocese of Paris for Valentine’s Day, falling on 14th February 2007. "It is an opportunity for the Church to communicate a good word on love – states the archbishop, mgr. Vingt-Trois – We cannot just propose a model of a family as if we were able to ensure its success. We have to work at all levels to provide the best conditions for family life. Much has been done, and a lot remains to be done, especially in the training of married couples and in support to families". The event includes, on Saturday 10th February, a party with engaged couples. The website www.fetesaintvalentin.org has been specially set up to offer detailed information. Sunday 11th is the day of the pilgrimage/cruise along the Seine that will end in Notre Dame with Mass, officiated by the archbishop. At the same time in Paris about fifty parishes are organising events to promote marriage and a life of faith for the couples.” “
